The Challenge

Our client was bidding to build and manage the Wideband SATCOM Satellite Ground Station-East (SGS-E) and Network Management System (NMS), a contract worth more than AU$223 million. With an international project of this size and complexity they needed a robust proposal system and global expertise.

“In the days of digital conflict, communications, global positioning and data sharing are key to ensuring situational awareness, operational security and success. The Joint Project 2008 Phase 5B2 Satellite Ground Station – East Facilities (SGS-E) Project aims to provide improved communications for the ADF.”

The Solution

A team of 13 Salentis resources supported more than 50 of our client’s employees and other staff from partnering teams at their offices in Orlando, FL and Canberra, ACT.

The Salentis System was used throughout providing the robust proposal development process that was needed, tailored to the ASDEFCON procurement requirements. This included kick-off workshops, color team reviews, use of ‘the Wall’, and the production of all final copies of the proposal.

  • Mixed US and AU bid team delivered a tailored solution with combined US and Australian expertise and technologies and a local delivery
  • A Salentis System proposal integrated with client governance processes
  • Salentis oversight and guidance of every stage including final production
  • Disciplined team leadership meant there was no requirement for all-nighters or other bid chaos

The Impact

Not only was this Salentis client successful in their procurement, but it was a strategic international win in a market into which they had not previously bid. While being seen by industry as somewhat of a dark horse, our client won the contract and has continued to team with Salentis on many successful efforts expanding their presence in the region.

An amazing effort and a strong indicator of success through highly professional, smart, advanced, hard-working, team oriented “can do” support. I know we have a lot planned in 2016 and Salentis is an integral element to our success plans.”
